Department of English

The Department of English at Mother Terasa College of Arts and Science is dedicated to fostering a deep appreciation for language, literature, and communication. With a focus on both classical and contemporary works, the department aims to cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills among students, preparing them to engage meaningfully with the world around them.

Our curriculum offers a rich exploration of English literature, language studies, cultural studies, linguistics, and communication. From Shakespearean drama to postcolonial literature, students explore diverse genres, movements, and authors while developing a nuanced understanding of language and its role in shaping human experience. The department also emphasizes practical language skills, including writing, speaking, and analytical reading, which are essential for success in both academic and professional settings.

Led by experienced faculty members who are passionate about literature and pedagogy, the department fosters an interactive and dynamic learning environment. Students are encouraged to participate in discussions, literary events, theatre productions, creative writing workshops, and academic research, thereby enhancing their intellectual and artistic abilities.

Graduates from the Department of English are well-equipped for careers in education, media, publishing, content writing, translation, public relations, and many other fields that require strong communication and analytical skills. Many also go on to pursue advanced studies in literature, linguistics, and cultural studies.

Our mission is to inspire a love for the English language and literature, equip students with the skills to articulate their ideas effectively, and contribute to the promotion of critical thinking and cultural understanding in a globalized world.
